Dr. Stephen Carlson
Currently an Assistant Professor of Music and Coordinator of the piano area at Bemidji State University, Dr. Carlson made his highly regarded New York debut as a solo recitalist in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. One-half of the McKay-Carlson Piano Duo, Carlson has also performed chamber music with members of the South Carolina Philharmonic as well as the Charleston and Greenville (SC) Symphonies and was appointed to the Performing Artist Roster of the South Carolina Arts Commission.
Debora Harris
Debora Harris, Associate Professor of Flute at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota is an accomplished flutist in a broad range of musical styles. Principal flutist of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony for the past twenty years, Ms. Harris has also performed as a recitalist and clinician throughout the United States. Having a special affinity for chamber music, Ms. Harris is completing a Doctor of Music from Florida State University.
Eeva Kaisa Malin
Eeva Kaisa Malin, 28, has been deputy flute lecturer at Palmgren Conservatory, Pori, Finland, since 2007. She teaches flute players from elementary level to professional studies and also directs chamber music groups and gives music playschool lessons to five-year-old children.
Malin holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences. She also has studied Suzuki method with Marja-Leena Mäkilä. She has taken part in master class by Patrick Gallois.
Eeva Kaisa has been teaching flute in many Music institutes in Finland and in STM- and Partaharju Music Camps over the years. She also has been deputy flutist in Pori Sinfonietta- Pori City Orchestra, for one to mention. Eeva Kaisa is classically trained musician, but she enjoys performing and teaching all styles of music including improvisation. She is also an active member of Finnish flute association and attends their conferences annually.
EEVA KAISA`S NUMBER ONE GOAL IS TO HELP STUDENTS DEVELOP AN APPRECIATION AND LOVE OF MUSIC. SHE ALSO BELIEVES THAT IT IS HER JOB TO NURTURE A STUDENT’S NATURAL TALENTS AND ABILITIES WHILE TEACHING MUSIC THAT THE STUDENTS ARE INTERESTED IN LEARNING.
Malin is producing Saint-Saëns Carnival of The Animals- production in Palmgren Conservatory in spring 2011.
Minja Pentti
Minja Pentti earned her Master of Music (Music Performance/violin) at the Sibelius Academy in 2008 and is continuing her studies toward her Doctorate. Ms. Pentti has taught violin since 2001, teaching at the Helsinki Pop-Jazz Conservatory, Sibelius-Academy, Espoo Musiikkiopisto, and the Foundation of Private Music Schools.
Russell Peterson
An accomplished classical/jazz saxophonist, bassoonist and composer, Russell Peterson holds degrees from Youngstown State University (Ohio), Le Conservatoire de Bordeaux (France), and Bowling Green State University (Ohio). Winner of numerous prizes, including the top prize at the International Geneva Saxophone Concours, (Switzerland), and first place winner of the MTNA National Music Competition, Mr. Peterson has soloed with orchestras in the United States as well as Europe. Mr. Peterson has served on the faculty at Youngstown State University (Ohio), The University of Toledo (Ohio), Minnesota State University Moorhead, The Interlochen Summer Arts Camp (Michigan), The International Music Camp, and is currently instructor of Saxophone, Bassoon, and Jazz Ensemble I at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota.
Marja Pohjola
Marja Pohjola is a pianist and piano and keyboard harmony teacher from Lapinjärvi, Finland. She works as a teacher and accompanist in the music institute of Porvoo, Finland. She also performs in concerts, and she especially likes the music of Sibelius. She has studied in the Sibelius Academy where she graduated with a Master of fine arts in 1998.
Dr. Leigh Wakefield
Dr. Wakefield, Associate Professor of Clarinet at Concordia College, received his Master’s Degree in clarinet from the New England Conservatory of music and his D.M.A. at the University of Minnesota. Currently he is principal clarinetist with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, the Fargo-Moorhead Opera Company, and a member of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Wind Quintet, and Concordia Wind Quintet.
