Performer of the Year 2008

The Board of Finlandia Foundation National (FFN) elected an Accordion Duo, Brent Buswell and Bert Stromholm as the FFN Performer of the Year 2008 in their November meeting.
Bert Stromholm is an exceptionally talented accordion player and entertainer and has been performing and playing dances since his youth either alone or as a member of various bands. Bert has also written shows and has been very actively involved for years in organizing Scandinavian events and hosting performers both from Finland and the USA.

Brent Buswell, who graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in professional music, began playing piano when he was three years old.  At age 12, Brent was given his first full size accordion and since then, it became his main instrument.   He also plays the organ and percussion.  The repertoire that Brent performs consists of a wide range of classical, American standards, novelty, Christian and Scandinavian music, to name a few.

Brent, who has been blind from birth, has been playing together with Bert for over ten years. They are versatile, talented performers, who enjoy working as a team.  They can present a variety of shows with any combination of dance music, concert, show, sing-a-longs and workshops.
